Whale watching passengers aboard Captain Dave’s Dolphin & Whale Watching Safari in Dana Point, California, had an experience today that very few have had. They got up close and personal with a Blue Whale – the largest animal in the world!

Sleek and beautiful, this very friendly Blue Whale crossed fearlessly in front of our stopped whale watching catamaran and flipped its tail flukes high in the air as it reached the other side of our bow. Almost as if the whale was waving hello to the thrilled whale watchers and crew. Our boat was not moving during the spectacular encounter.

Blue Whales are the largest known animal to have ever lived. Southern California hosts the largest concentration of Blue Whales in the world. During the months between June and October the whales are here feeding on krill, a very small shrimp-like crustacean. Blue whales can consume four tons of krill every day!

Capt. Dave’s Dolphin & Whale Watching Safari has daily trips to see Blue Whales, Fin Whales, Wild Dolphins and much more. Visit dolphinsafari.com to learn more about our daily whale watching trips.
